WARM SPRING MOUNTAIN
Fremont County - Shoshone National Forest - 42N-108W-35
February 19, 1928: "New construction on the forest during the year was chiefly administrative and protection improvements and trails. A new 72-foot steel tower, with glassed in observatory was built on Warm Spring mountain, 10 miles west of Dubois, and connected with the Sheridan Creek Telephone lone by a new line five miles long." (Casper Star-Tribune)
September 11, 1958: "Since our lookout on Warm Springs lookout is leaving this week, we are planning to send our Fire Control Aid (name omitted) to the lookout as needed. He is a GS-4 but since lookout manning is expected to be of short duration for the rest of the season we do not feel it is necessary to put (name omitted) on differential or to change his rate to GS-2. We will pay (name omitted) for time and one-half out of FFF for any time over 40 hours per week unless we are advised otherwise by you." (Memo to Forest Supervisor from District Ranger)
September 16, 1958: "Reference is made to your memorandum of September 11.
Your plans to man the Warm Springs Lookout are o.k. However, any overtime worked will be straight time rates and will be payable from P&M - 101 funds.
In view of (name omitted) limited duty status, if you have anyone else available, you should consider using them rather than (name omitted) to climb the lookout ladder. We would sure hate to have a lost time on a lookout." (Memo to Ranger, Wind River from Forest Supervisor, Shoshone)
