July 22, 1911: "Supervisor C.C. Hall has three outfits of about twenty men in the field. (The) third is under R. Van Slyck, building a forest telephone line to Servellata to connect with the forest telephone that runs to Canjilon and in a few days will begin the construction of a line to San Antone mountain where a lookout station for forest fires will be established." (Albuquerque Journal)
July 10, 1918: "A thrilling and unusual incident was experienced by Lookoutman Ground at the San Antonio lookout house on the top of a mountain in the Carson National forest, N.M., on the night of June 18, when lightning struck the cabin there and tore a hole two feet square in the roof. The lookout house is about 12 by 12 feet in dimensions and has only one floor, with walls almost wholly of glass.
At the time that the lightning plated all about the house, Mr. Ground was in bed and it is supposed that the bedding acted as insulation and prevented his being electrocuted. He was uninjured." (The Oregonian)
