1925: A 50-foot Aermotor model LX-24 tower with a 7x7 cab was erected.
July 10, 1959: "The region is now accepting bids on the three lookouts which are to be constructed during fiscal years 1960. With acceptance of bids at this time, we should be having delivery of the towers and cabs by the end of September at the latest. With delivery at that date, it should be possible to contract the erection of the Colcord Tower before winter sets in. Generally, the forests would put in the footings under force account and contract the erection of the tower. The Tonto should also consider the dismantling of the old lookout when the new is ready for occupancy." (Memo to Forest Supervisors from Assistant Regional Forester)
