Sublette County - Bridger-Teton National Forest
July 24, 1941: A badly needed lookout cabin has been erected by the Forest Service in Sublette County this summer. Communications will be by telephone and radio reporting to Big Piney. The lookout station will be manned when the weather station located at Cora indicates low humidity. (The Pinedale Roundup)
September 17, 1942: "Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Hopkins came down from the lookout on North Piney, where they spent the past month and a half." (Big Piney Examiner)
October 26, 1950: "The Forest Service proposes to sell, donate, abandon or destroy the following properties:
The Middle Piney Telephone Line consisting of approximately 20 miles of metallic and grounded number nine line from Big Piney, Wyoming westerly along Middle Piney Road to a point two miles inside the Forest boundary where the line turns north. Right-of-way agreements for private land crossings are on files. The spur to Snider Basin Ranger Station and to Bird's Sawmill with branch to North Piney Lookout may be included."
