June 12, 1921: "A small forest fire in the Catalina Mountains, in the Canada del Oro district, has been burning since Wednesday night.
The fire was reported to Ranger B.G. Mettler at the Soldier Camp lookout station about 11:30 o'clock Wednesday night. Forest Ranger Smith went to the scene of the blaze with two men and reported Thursday afternoon that he and his men were holding the fire well under control." (Tombstone Weekly Epitaph)
