March 30, 1922: "Forest Examiner Burrall leaves next Saturday for Gallinas district of the Forest where he will assist Ranger Wm. H. Woods, Jr., in the construction of the Gallinas Lookout Telephone line." (Alamogordo News)
June 16, 1932: "Ranger George Messer, of the Gallinas station, reports to the Supervisor's office that Paul Porter, fire guard in that district, had sustained painful injuries by falling from the ladder leading to the lookout tower last Saturday. The doctor says he will be out in about ten days." (Alamogordo News)
June 23, 1932: "Ranger George Messer, of the Gallinas station, reports that Paul Porter, fire guard injured a few days ago by a fall from a ladder to the lookout tower, was recovering satisfactorily, and will soon be out again." (Almogordo News)
September 1, 1932: "Two new steel lookout towers have been placed, one 80 feet high on the Wofford Lookout station north of Cloudcroft; the other 48 feet high on the Gallinas Lookout in Lincoln county. Each replace worn-out wooden towers, and are thoroughly protected against lightning in the best known scientific manner. Each lookout is encased in a network of heavy copper wires, all of which is well grounded, thus insulating the occupant from lightning. The two towers completed the entire series of towers on the Lincoln Forest into steel ones. There are 11 lookout stations. An observation cabin has been places on Mount Jeau." (Almogordo News)
February 9, 1933: "The local Supervisor's office has received notice by the Aermotor Co., Chicago, of the shipment of two steel lookout towers. One is 40 feet in height and will be placed at the Gallinas mountain lookout." (Alamogordo News)

April 27, 1933: "Mr. Morris, assistant supervisor, was up at Gallinas the latter part of the week and staked out location for the new 50-foot fire tower." (Alamogordo News)
June 8, 1933: "A new lookout tower has been erected on Gallinas Peak. Charles Pepper, who erected the station, will at once start work on the Monjeau observatory." (Alamogordo News)
August 25, 1938: "The remodeling and improving of the Galinas, Wollord and Mayhill Lookout towers and cabins has been completed and these lookout towers are now up to the standards expected. Lookout towers are becoming increasingly popular each year with visitors to the Forest and improvements are being installed for their convenience." (Alamogordo News)
