June 25, 1925: "A new all steel tower of the latest construction will soon replace the old wooden tower on the Alamo peak. The new tower is 35 feet in height and the observation room is all glassed in. Ranger W.H. Woods has charge of the erection of the tower, and the structure will be raised to place within a day or so." (Alamorgordo News)

July 1, 1925: "A new all steel tower of the latest construction is replacing the old fire lookout tower at Alamo peak, east of Alamogordo. It is 35 feet high and the observation room is entirely glassed in. It is being erected by the U.S. forest service, with Ranger W.H. Woods, Jr., in charge. Rains are occurring nearly every day in the forest section, greatly relieving the fire danger. Forest records show a total of 27 fires up to June 20." (Albuquerque Journal)

May 25, 1933: "Alex Quick and family have moved out to the Alamo Lookout tower where he will maintain a lookout for forest fires." (Alamogordo News)
